Caustic Frequency in 2D Stochastic Flows Modeling Turbulence

چکیده

Stochastic flows mimicking 2D turbulence in compressible media are considered. Particles driven by such can collide and we study the collision (caustic) frequency. Caustics occur when Jacobian of a flow vanishes. First, system nonlinear stochastic differential equations involving is derived reduced to smaller number unknowns. Then, for special cases forcing, upper lower bounds found mean caustics as function Stokes number. The yield an exact asymptotic small numbers. efficiency verified numerically. As auxiliary results give rigorous proofs well known expressions caustic frequency Lyapunov exponent one-dimensional model. Our findings may also be used estimating time Riemann type partial equation with forcing loses uniqueness solutions.

Elastic turbulence in 2D viscoelastic flows

It is well known that the addition of small amounts of long chain polymers produces dramatic effects on flowing fluids. A remarkable effect, recently observed experimentally, is the onset of ”elastic turbulence” in the limit of very low Reynolds number Re, provided elasticity is high enough [1]. In this regime, the polymer solution displays features typical of turbulent flows. Consequently, ela...

2DV Nonlinear k-ε Turbulence Modeling of Stratified Flows

The commonly used linear k-ε turbulence model is shown to be incapable of accurate prediction of turbulent flows, where non-isotropy is dominant. Two examples of non-isotropic flows, which have a wide range of applications in marine waters, are saline water flow and the stratified flows due to temperature gradients. These relate to stratification and consequently, variation of density through...

Turbulence Modeling in Stratified Flows over Topography

A non-hydrostatic code that numerically solves the unsteady, three-dimensional, primitive equations is used. Advanced models such as the dynamic mixed model and the dynamic eddy viscosity model are utilized to represent subgrid processes in the LES approach. A novel near-wall model has been developed so as to increase the Reynolds number of boundary flows to realistically large geophysical valu...

Turbulence Modeling Validation for Afterbody Flows

The aerothermodynamics phenomena over space launch vehicles or missiles are a challenging problem on space and aeronautical applications. These physical phenomena can strongly affect the engine's aerodynamic performances. The physical problem met on this geometry is essentially the result of the interaction of two merging flows; one issued from a propulsive jet at high speed and high temperatur...
